Building a personal brand makes money - fact. Want to know how?

This requires clarity on what personal branding is, and one very specific ingredient for it to work.

As with all good things, personal branding does not come easy - but it’s actually not as difficult as you may think. At least, I would wager that you will find it easier than I have.

I have spent over 20 years working with pre-start businesses and early-stage founders across the UK, and have been employed by some of the leading education brands.

I have done some incredible things.

I have also had strong moments of clarity - unique ideas and perspectives relevant to my industry.

For over 20 years, my reputation has been confined to rooms and press releases; I built my personal brand to share my ideas and experiences with purpose, not to promote myself.

Purpose

Personal branding is not about posting self-gratifying photos of your holiday, slipper-clad dog or boutique burrito. Personal branding is about leveraging the best of you, aligned to your mission.

You have a mission, right?

For years, impact was something I said. Now it’s something I feel, and this is expressed in the mission Emma and I have to support 100,000 founders. Mission forces clarity and drives our focus, strategy and energy.

In 2026, personal branding is not a nice-to-have - it’s an absolute necessity.

With a newfound sense of purpose, I’m playing catch-up.

It’s never too late

There is one thing that you need to make your personal brand a success, in any capacity. This will protect you from the one thing that will always hold you back, every time: yourself.

You make lists, stick notes on the fridge, and max out your calendar with deadlines. If you don’t buckle under the weight of distraction after a few days, the chances are you won’t make it past the first week before you make the first excuse as to why you can’t post on LinkedIn.

Tormented by your inability to reap the rewards of personal branding, you’ll likely turn against the idea and rely entirely on conventional business branding. Dark days indeed.

You need accountability

You need somebody to hold you to account if you don’t make the effort.

Consequence.

Don’t kid yourself that you can get past this on your own.

In finding someone who holds you accountable, you also find support, new ideas, and confidence in that person. Accountability is growth. It is responsibility. It is confidence.

And, when you finally get traction - which you will - you will reach the one goal that every aspiring content creator dreams of: consistency.

Consistency cannot be achieved without these four elements:

The Lucky Founders Club embeds accountability as standard, ensuring that all of our members achieve the consistency they need to become visible and trusted.

This is how personal branding makes money. Visibility and trust attract customers and opportunities - from podcast appearances and brand deals to event invitations and speaking gigs.
